A stop

Unfortunately due to college homework I'm going to have to stop updating this blog, probably until the end of the school year. I may have a chance to do some current issues during christmas break, but no promises.
You probably realized I haven't been updating it (unless you've been in a coma for a few months) but here's my official post declaring that you can come check back sometime in the middle of December or so and I may start updating again if it's possible.

So Israel is attacking civilians on purpose?

What? Where did you hear that?
If you've heard from any wacko out there that Israel is just wrong because they have a higher civilian kill amount than lebanon. Don't fall for that hunk of baloney! First of all they don't take into account the fact that Hezbollah (who has been occupying Lebanon for long enough) has been terrorizing and killing Israel's civilians for longer than this has been going on.
Second, the group Hezbollah is one of these terrorist groups, what these terrorist groups do is make war and when threatened turn into a civilian faster than a chameleon. I'm betting that a certain (though I don't know how much) amount of this figure of how many Lebanese civilians have died were part of Hezbollah and were mistakenly labeled as innocents. Thirdly I want to point out that currently Israel has ordered all civilians in southern Lebanon to evacuate by using radio broadcasts and even, get this, text messages to lebanese officials.

In other news Israel has said that if a full-scale ground invasion of Lebanon is necessary then it will be done. Some people think that it's very likely that Israel will invade.

Hezbollah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah shrugged off concerns of a stepped-up Israeli onslaught, vowing never to release two Israeli soldiers captured by his guerrillas even "if the whole universe comes (against us)." He said they would be freed only as part of a prisoner exchange brokered through indirect negotiations. (Article from Forbes)

I can't wait to see what he thinks once his colleagues start dying like flies in the face of the Israeli onslaught. If he doesn't die immediately in an air raid or if the world powers decide to interfere and stifle Israel again.

Presiden Bush in St. Petersburg

http://graphics.nytimes.com/packages/audio/politics/bush_g8audio.mp3

In St. Petersburg Russia our president was at a meeting with eight different leaders called summit of industrialized nations. Apparently a microphone got left on in front of Bush that caught about four minutes of his conversation with different people. According to some of the news reports I read this has actually happened before though not necissarily to Bush.
While he was talking he let loose the s word while talking about hezbollah's actions in the middle east.

"What they need to do is get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this s—-, and it's over," Bush was caught saying to Blair.

I was listening to the Laura Ingraham show this morning. When she started talking about this she commented that she liked it (paraphrased) and frankly I agree. If anything needs describing like that it's hezbollah's actions and it makes me happy to see our president putting it like it is though we probably won't hear it like that in a speech of his anytime soon. Of course I don't think it should be in one of his speeches but it's refreshing to hear something real and not written by a speech writer, something that really comes from the president.

PS Sorry about the links on this blog they've not quite gotten the html down real well yet. I don't get to use html in my posts and they don't let me change the template or even the thing that puts up the links so they look a bit goofy.

Update on the Middle East

Well I heard on the news that the Prime minister called the President today and George promised to ask Israel to hold back on further violence and avoid killing civilians.
Not a huge deal, but I think he probably should have told that guy to fix Hezbollah good first.

Another interesting thing in the attacks:

In an article titled "Israeli Raids Target Hezbollah in Beirut" Fox News reports that "

In an audiotape aired on Hezbollah's Al-Manar television less than an hour after the Beirut attack on his house, Nasrallah addressed himself to Israelis, saying: "You wanted an open war and we are ready for an open war."

"Look at the warship that has attacked Beirut, while it burns and sinks before your very eyes," Nasrallah said. Soon after the broadcast, Israeli Defense Forces reported a naval vessel positioned off Lebanon was lightly damaged by rocket fire."

Great isn't it? Like a ten year old promising death and distruction and then punching you.
Of course CNN sees it a whole different way. Take a look for yourself at the article here

Hezbollah ready for 'open war' with Israel http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/07/14/mideast/index.html?section=cnn_latest

I was going to cite a few certain parts of this article showing the complete contrast in the way it's reported, but the whole thing is just too good so I encourage you to go and read it as well as the Fox News report below;

Hezbollah: We're Ready for 'Open War' With Israel
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,203453,00.html

Virtually the same article reported from two different sides.

Israel attacks

Israel has retaliated against Hezbollah for taking two of their soldiers prisoner by bombing the Beirut international airport. The two strikes involved making the runways unusable and destroying some fuel tanks at the airport. Israel's navy also blockaded lebonese ports. Hundreds of targets were also attacked from the north border of Israel towards the capital, the same direction that two rockets that hit the Israeli port city of Haifa came from. Hezbollah has been using beirut as an active port of operations where the Hezbollah acolytes stop people and demand contributions for their cause. There are many who think that Hezbollah is a good organization because of the contributions to lebanese communities such as providing social services, agricultural support, and in running schools and hospitals. Unfortunately their cause is a little more than that evidenced by their violence against Israel. I for one was quite glad when I heard that Israel had struck back and hard. Maybe these idiot terrorists will think twice before terrorizing Israel again. I wouldn't say violence is always the best, but against terrorists there isn't much else you can do. Did pulling out of Gaza help put down the violence? No. Giving them what they demand isn't going to work and not only that it isn't right. Even a babysitter (well at least a good one) knows that you don't reward a child giving a temper tantrum with what he wants, you just don't. What you should do is punish them and don't reward unless there is good behavior. Secondly you don't reward them by taking something away from another innocent child even if they are good.

To the people that have been whining about the attacks on the premise that the Israelis are killing innocent civilians I would like to point out that the night before they attacked Israel distributed flyers that told citizenry to evacuate the area because of impending military action.

Israel maintains that the Lebanese government is ultimately responsible for the kidnapping of two of its soldiers by Hizbullah militants earlier this week, in border raids in which eight military personnel lost their lives. Go Israel!

The Navy/ Joe Biden and the Indians

This here is my first post for this blog. I hope to keep this blog going with more commentary about current events.
Here's an interesting article I found while I was reading different news articles.

Settlement with Navy ends sonar lawsuit

http://www.sptimes.com/2006/07/08/Worldandnation/Settlement_with_Navy_.shtml

The interesting thing I find about this article is how crazy people are about protecting animals. What I really don't understand is how the court can decide that the animals are more important than the Navy's practice. In the end they are deciding that the welfare of animals is higher on their priority list than the welfare or the safetey of the citizens of this nation. Isn't that really what it comes down to it if you think about it for more than a few minutes.
I mean, personally I don't care a whole lot whether a few animals get hurt as long as it's helping the safety of the people (isn't that what is more important here?) of this nation. Fortunately it says that it was temporary, although this does raise another question. If it's temporary what is the significance of helping the marine life out anyway if the Navy is going to resume their "Pacific warfare exercises" after a while anyway? To me this seems like a big waste of time. They might just be buying time while they (they referring to the environmental groups) attempt to put more permanent blocks on stuff like this (which would be an unfortunate and potentially harmful waste of time).

Anyway, for some reason this same article mentions senator Joe Biden, which is actually how I found it in the first place. I've found Joe Biden to be a really funny guy. It would appear that the part of his brain that produces speech is wired to his mouth in a higher priority than the politically correct part of his brain. I was looking at the news articles in my google alert on Joe Biden that I have just recently set up, hoping to catch more entertaining comments when I found this one. It seems that Biden was visiting an indian fundraiser while he let out the comment; you cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent." It seems he meant to say that all the 7-Elevens and Dunkin' Donuts are run by Indians. I suppose that offended some people. I think it's funny. I don't agree with him necissarily and I certainly don't agree with that statement I think that people sometimes get offended too easily and they might think about not getting emotionally hurt so easily. I don't think he necissarily should have made that statement either though.
Apparently his people are apologizing for Joe's loose tongue the article says;

Biden's office said he respects the Indian-American community.

"The point Sen. Biden was making is that there has been a vibrant Indian-American community in Delaware for decades," said Margaret Aitken, a Biden spokeswoman.

My opinion is he meant it and we should freak out over it though it's really funny since he is part of the party that loves to go haywire over any mistake in the statements made by Republicans
